Plan the physical setup

The right equipment. No mystery.

Projection quality depends on throw distance, brightness, table size, room light and the computer driving the effects. Verify the complete setup before buying hardware.

01

Projector

Choose a projector by measured ANSI brightness, native resolution, throw ratio and image size at your actual mounting distance.

  • 1080p native resolution recommended
  • Use real ANSI-lumen measurements
  • Calculate image width before purchase
  • Prefer reliable focus and geometry controls

02

Computer

A modern Windows PC with capable integrated or dedicated graphics should be selected against the final published requirements.

  • Video output compatible with the projector
  • Enough GPU headroom for animated 2D effects
  • Stable wired power for sessions
  • Final minimum specification pending testing

03

Mount

Ceiling and table-mounted systems can both work. The best option depends on installation permanence, ceiling access and the desired image size.

  • Secure against tipping or vibration
  • Keep heat and ventilation clear
  • Protect cables from players
  • Maintain repeatable alignment

04

Surface & room

A matte, neutral projection surface in controlled light produces better contrast than a glossy or strongly colored table.

  • Avoid reflective hotspots
  • Control direct light on the map
  • Test miniature shadows
  • Match the projected area to the play area

Do not buy on claims alone

Test the actual table.

Projector marketing numbers are inconsistent. Use verified brightness, an image-size calculator and a returnable test unit whenever possible.
